                                TREASURY SHARES

The Company holds a balance of 1,253,447 Mitchells & Butlers ordinary shares as
treasury shares following the exercise of savings related options over 6,802
shares at prices ranging between 169p and 209p per share.

As a result of the above, the number of shares in issue, excluding shares held
in treasury is 402,526,246 ordinary shares.
