           GLEESON PROMOTES ANDREW MUNCEY TO GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR

The Board of M J Gleeson Group plc, the construction services, homes and
property group, is pleased to announce that Andrew Muncey has been appointed
Group Managing Director with effect from 1 May 2003, on the retirement of David
Eyre.

Andrew Muncey, 46, joined Gleeson as Deputy Managing Director of the Southern
Construction Division in 1997, became Managing Director of that Division in May
1999 and was promoted to the Group Board in October 2001.  He has a First Class
Honours Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Wales and was
previously Construction Director of Walter Llewellyn & Sons Ltd.

Commenting on Andrew Muncey's appointment, Dermot Gleeson, Executive Chairman,
stated 'Andrew Muncey's appointment reflects his considerable success in
substantially increasing the turnover and transforming the profitability of the
Southern Construction Division.  His appointment is all the more meritorious for
being achieved in competition with both internal and external candidates,
following an extensive search in which the Board were assisted by leading
external consultants.'
