                            Retirement of a Director                            
                                                                              

M J Gleeson Group plc announces the retirement today of Lord Selsdon, a
non-executive Director since 1994, at the expiry of his fourth three year term.

Malcolm Selsdon will be succeeded as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee by
Eric Stobart. A short list of potential non-executive Directors is under
consideration.

Thanking Malcolm Selsdon for his contribution to the Group, Dermot Gleeson,
Chairman, said 'Malcolm's extraordinary enthusiasm and commitment, coupled with
his original and creative cast of mind, made him an exceptionally stimulating
and much valued colleague. The group owes him a great debt of gratitude.'
