New Chief Executive for Australian Division
National Express Group, ('National Express') the leading international
passenger transport company, announces the appointment of Craig Wallace as
Chief Executive of its Australian Division. The new position has been created
to drive forward development of the business and takes effect from 29th
January 2001.
Wallace, aged 42, joins National Express from Ansett, the Australian airline,
which he joined in 1982. At Ansett he held a wide range of roles with
responsibility for operations, finance and management. At Ansett his career
culminated with the appointment to Acting Chief Executive prior to the
takeover of Ansett by Air New Zealand.
Following the recent restructuring of the Australian business, Wallace, a
native Australian, will hold overall responsibility for all of the Group's
transport activities operating out of the major Australian cities of Brisbane,
Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. He will be based in Melbourne.
Commenting on the appointment, Phil White, Chief Executive of National Express
Group said: 'I am delighted to welcome Craig to the Group. He is a highly
regarded and well respected individual within the Australian transport and
travel market. Craig will oversee the day-to-day management of the business as
well as look for further opportunities to grow our presence within the
Australasian market and the Far East. I look forward to the contribution that
Craig will bring.'
