The Company was notified on 5th October 2006 by the trustee of the National
Express Employee Benefit Trust that it had transferred 2,093 ordinary 5 pence
shares out of the trust in respect of an exercise by a participant in the
Deferred Annual Share Bonus Plan.

Following this transaction, the trust holds 325,386 shares in the Company in
which the executive directors, Richard Bowker, Ray O'Toole and Adam Walker are
deemed to be technically interested, under the Companies Act.  The transaction
did not relate to any directors of the Company.
