National Express Group PLC (the 'Company') hereby gives notice pursuant to
Section 329 Companies Act (the 'Act') and paragraph 16.13 of the Listing Rules
that on 6 November 2001 the Trustee of the National Express Group Employee
Benefit Trust (the 'Trust') purchased 50,000 shares in the Company at a price
of 503p per share and 100,000 shares at a price of 501p per share. The
purchase was notified to the Company on 6 November 2001. The shares will be
held in Trust, at the Trustees' discretion, in order to satisfy options
granted, or the vesting of awards made, under one of the Company's share
schemes or incentive arrangements. As the executive directors are potential
beneficiaries under the Trust Mr P White, Mr R O'Toole, Mr R Brown and Mr W
Rollason are deemed to have acquired an interest in these shares for the
purposes of the act.
