Mr David Ross, the Chairman of National Express Group PLC (the 'Company'), has
elected to receive his director's fees in Ordinary Shares of the Company. The
Company therefore announces that Mr Ross's monthly fees have today been applied
in the purchase of 1,704 Ordinary Shares of 5p each at a price of 698p per share
in the name of VIDACOS Nominees Limited on behalf of Mr Ross.

Following this transaction, Mr Ross's total shareholding in the Company has
risen to 152,274 Ordinary Shares, representing 0.11% of the Company's issued
share capital.
