APPOINTMENT OF NEW GROUP FINANCE DIRECTOR

National Express Group PLC ('the Group') is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeremy (Jez) Maiden, currently Finance Director of Northern Foods plc, as Finance Director of the Group.  

Commenting on the appointment Richard Bowker, National Express Group Chief Executive, said: 'I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Jez to the post of Group Finance Director. I believe his diverse background, and his recent experience at Northern Foods where he has contributed to a significant process of change and underlying profitability improvement, will make him a valuable member of the team responsible for taking the Group forward to the next stage of its growth. I very much look forward to welcoming him to National Express.'

Jez will join the Group's Board later in 2008.

Aged 47, Jez is a qualified chartered management accountant, who started his business career as a graduate recruit at Unilever before joining Price Waterhouse as a management consultant. Jez left Price Waterhouse to become divisional finance director and then group finance director of Hickson International plc. Prior to taking up his current position at Northern Foods, Jez was group finance director at British Vita plc from 2002 to 2005.
