                  Appointment of new non executive director


National Express Group PLC is pleased to appoint Tim Score to the Board as a non
executive director with effect from 21 February 2005.

Tim is currently Chief Financial Officer of ARM Holdings PLC and prior to that
held senior financial roles at BTR plc, LucasVarity plc, William Baird plc and
Rebus Group Limited.

Commenting on his appointment, David Ross, Chairman of National Express Group
said:

'I am delighted that Tim has agreed to join the Group Board. Tim brings a wealth
of plc experience.  His extensive and in depth financial knowledge will be
invaluable particularly on the Group's Audit Committee where he will serve as
Chairman'.

There are no details to be disclosed under sections 6F2(b) to (g) of the UKLA
Listing Rules.
