Acquisition of Shares by the Trustee of the 
National Express Group Qualifying Employee Share Trust

National Express Group PLC (the 'Company') hereby gives notice pursuant to
Section 329 Companies Act 1985 (the 'Act') that on 30 November 1999 the
Trustee of the National Express Group Qualifying Employee Share Trust (the
'Trust') purchased 50,000 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 755p
per share.  As all employees of the Company and its subsidiaries are potential
beneficiaries under the Trust on an equal basis, the executive directors of
the Company, Mr P White, Mr R O'Toole and Mr R Brown, in their capacity as
members of the class of potential beneficiaries under the Trust, are deemed to
have acquired an interest in these shares for the purposes of the Act.'
