Acquisition of Shares by the Trustee of the
National Express Group Qualifying Employee Share Trust
National Express Group PLC (the 'Company') hereby gives notice pursuant to
Section 329 Companies Act 1985 (the 'Act') and Paragraph 16.13 of the London
Stock Exchange Listing Rules that on 8 December 1999 the Trustee of the
National Express Group Qualifying Employee Share Trust (the 'Trust') purchased
100,000 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 760p per share. The
purchase was notified to the Company on 9 December 1999. As all employees of
the Company and its subsidiaries are potential beneficiaries under the Trust
on an equal basis, the executive directors of the Company, Mr P White, Mr R
O'Toole and Mr R Brown, in their capacity as members of the class of potential
beneficiaries under the Trust, are deemed to have acquired an interest in
these shares for the purposes of the Act.'
