National Express Coach scoops top safety award

National Express coach is leading the way in safety after winning a top safety award by the British Safety Council.

The UK's largest coach operator achieved a British Safety Council Sword of Honour award, which is awarded to organisations who have demonstrated excellence in the management of health and safety risks at work.

To win the award National Express demonstrated to an independent panel of experts its excellence in their health and safety management throughout the business - from the shopfloor to the boardroom.

In order to compete for the Sword of Honour, organisations first had to achieve the maximum five stars in the British Safety Council's health and safety management audit scheme in the period August 2014 - July 2015.

During the audit not only did National Express gain five out of five stars and an 'Excellent' rating for its approach to safety management, it was also awarded over 97 per cent - a further improvement on the excellent score awarded in its 2014 British Safety Council audit.

National Express Group CEO Dean Finch said: "This Sword of Honour, in addition to being awarded the highest possible rating of any company on a first audit, is a great achievement for our UK coach division and testament to the hard work and diligence of staff throughout the business. I want to thank all employees for their efforts as we continue to strive for the highest possible levels of safety."
