             NATIONAL EXPRESS GROUP PLC SHARE REPURCHASE PROGRAMME


National Express Group Plc announces that on 11 May 2005 it purchased 50,000 of
its ordinary shares at a price of 850 pence per share. It is intended that these
shares will be held in Treasury.

Following the purchase, National Express Group Plc holds 50,000 of its ordinary
shares in Treasury and has a total of 137,729,715 ordinary shares (excluding
shares held in Treasury) in issue.
