Mobile Streams hired to mobilise 'The Apprentice'
(London, UK) 16 May 2007
FremantleMedia Enterprises, the commercial division of FremantleMedia, one of
the largest international creators and producers of programme brands in the
world, and Mobile Streams, the global mobile media specialist, have teamed up to
deliver exclusive content from the hit talkbackTHAMES-created TV show, 'The
Apprentice' to all mobile phone network operators in the UK.
Over the 12-week run, Mobile Streams' Vuesia platform will encode
behind-the-scenes and preview clips from the TV show, as well as the iconic '
You're Fired' moment, into a range of formats and facilitate the weekly delivery
into three UK network operators - 3, Orange and O2 - following a commercial deal
inked by FremantleMedia Enterprises. Content will also be made available on both
Vodafone and T-Mobile in deals brokered by Mobile Streams, ensuring continued
key deck placement within a dedicated WAP site on Vodafone and promotional
banners throughout T-Mobile's T-Zones.
Commenting, Martyn McGoun, EVP Europe: 'FremantleMedia has produced some the
most exciting shows in recent times including The X Factor and the upcoming
Britain's Got Talent. We are absolutely delighted to be working with
FremantleMedia Enterprises on The Apprentice project. With its need for high
quality production and multi-channel distribution on tight deadlines we are
showcasing Vuesia's capabilities perfectly.'
Robert Marsh, Vice President, Interactive and Telephony, UK of FremantleMedia
Enterprises' licensing team added: 'This is the first time that we have licensed
The Apprentice to all UK operators. We have found Mobile Streams to be a
valuable partner to enable us to encode and deliver our content to all
operators, as well as providing ready access to Vodafone and T-Mobile customers
through their direct relationship.'
The second series of The Apprentice, which is produced in the UK by
talkbackTHAMES, the production company owned by FremantleMedia, was the highest
rated programme of 2006 for BBC2. The show continued to grow its audience week
on week throughout the 12 episode series and the final episode attracted an
audience of 5.9 million viewers. The series was such a success that the
broadcaster migrated the third series to BBC1.
