FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 13 June 2002
MENTMORE ABBEY plc
('the Company')
Board Changes
Mentmore Abbey announces that Kim Taylor-Smith has today resigned from the board
and as Group Chief Executive, by mutual agreement. The search for a replacement
is under way. In the interim period Nicholas Smith, Executive Chairman will also
act as Chief Executive.
The Company also announces the appointment of a new independent non-executive
director with immediate effect; Mr. Richard Wright, aged 56, is Chairman of the
Board of National Savings, and was, until his recent retirement Director of
Sales, Ford Motor Company UK. He will act as senior non-executive.
Anthony Lewis, who is currently a non-executive director, has expressed a wish
to retire at the AGM in September 2002, to concentrate on his own property
business
Nicholas Smith, Executive Chairman, said:
'Kim Taylor-Smith has worked for the Group for over 15 years and was appointed
Group Chief Executive following the acquisition of Birkby in 1999. Kim has made
a valuable contribution to the Group and after a long period in the public
company arena, we respect his decision to leave to pursue family business
interests.
The appointment of Richard Wright represents a valuable addition to the board
and I am confident that the successful Chief Executive candidate will further
enhance Mentmore Abbey in its next stage of growth as the leading focussed space
management group in Europe.'
The company will report its preliminary results for the year to 30 April on 2
July, as previously announced.
