Taverners Trust PLC

THE TAVERNERS TRUST PLC ('Taverners' or the 'Company')
Posting of circular to shareholders in respect of recommended Proposals for a
change to the investment objective and policy, the investment management
arrangements and proposed change of name
On 1 July 2005 the Board of Taverners (the 'Board') announced the details of its
review of the Company's future and that it would be writing to shareholders
seeking approval for proposals to change the investment objective and policy of
the Company to one which they believe will have a broader appeal to investors
and in turn improve the rating at which the Company's shares trade.
Subject to the shareholders approving the change in investment objective,
Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited, which has been working with the Board to
achieve the aims of shareholders, has agreed to dispose of the investment
management contract to Midas Capital Partners Limited. The Board is also
proposing to change the Company's name to 'Midas Income & Growth Trust PLC',
which will more closely reflect its new investment objective and to implement an
active discount management policy.
A circular detailing the proposals and convening an Extraordinary General
Meeting on 19 August 2005 to implement the proposals has been sent to
shareholders, and for information only, to warrantholders today, 22 July 2005.
