THE MONKS INVESTMENT TRUST PLC

ADJUSTMENT TO GEARING

The Company has adjusted its effective gearing through a combination of reducing its short equity index futures positions and repaying its £40m short term floating rate loan, largely out of existing cash. The combined impact is that the Company is effectively close to being fully invested with no net gearing.
