COMPLETION OF ACQUISITION OF VACUUMSCHMELZE
Following the announcement on 1st November 1999, The Morgan Crucible Company
plc today confirmed that it has received the necessary regulatory approvals,
and that its acquisition of the entire share capital of Vacuumschmelze GmbH
and Vacuumschmelze Corp. (collectively 'VAC') from Siemens has now been
successfully completed.
Commenting on the completion, Mr. Ian Norris, Chief Executive said:
'Completion of the VAC acquisition represents further significant progress in
Morgan's strategy of focussing on growth within our strong core businesses.
By utilising approximately 80% of the net proceeds of the sale of the Chemical
business, we expect to cover all of its profit and move into an exciting
growth area which falls perfectly into the core skills which Morgan possesses.
Negotiations in respect of non core disposals continue ahead of schedule.'
