Morgan Sindall appointed to £150 million
schools framework in South Lanarkshire
Morgan Sindall Group plc, the construction and regeneration group, today announces that Morgan Sindall, its construction and infrastructure division, has been appointed by South Lanarkshire Council to a £150 million modernisation framework which forms the latest phase of the council's new-build and refurbishment programme for its primary schools estate.
Morgan Sindall will be working alongside two other firms to construct 30 primary schools over a four-year period. The work is part of the council's wider £850 million primary schools modernisation programme which will see all 124 of the area's primary schools rebuilt by 2016.
Morgan Sindall has proven experience in the education sector in Scotland and has been working on the earlier phases of the South Lanarkshire primary schools modernisation programme since 2006. It has completed nine schools through the programme so far and is currently on site with four others. It has also been working on North Lanarkshire Council's £300 million schools modernisation framework since February 2009. In addition, Morgan Sindall is currently completing work on a £7.8 million new eco-school in Dunfermline East for Fife Council.
Paul Smith, Chief Executive of Morgan Sindall Group plc, said:
"This latest framework appointment is testament to the track record we have developed in the Scottish education market, where we are viewed as a trusted partner capable of delivering a quality and cost effective construction service.
