Morgan Sindall plc
AGM statement
John Morgan, Executive Chairman of Morgan Sindall plc will make the following
comments at the Group's Annual General Meeting to be held at 12pm today.
'In February we announced record results for 2004. I am pleased to report that
this momentum has continued and that the Group has made a good start to 2005.
Fit Out has further strengthened its order book by securing a number of
significant contracts since the beginning of the year. Its key market, the
commercial property sector, continues to show signs of improvement.
Construction started the year by reaching financial close of its third NHS LIFT
scheme at South East Hampshire and has been successful in securing further
public sector framework agreements.
Infrastructure Services secured an alliance contract for gas replacement works
with National Grid Transco in February making it one of the leading providers to
the gas utility market. It has also been selected as preferred supplier to
Severn Trent Water and as a large schemes partner to Yorkshire Water and Wessex
Water under the water sector's AMP4 programme.
Affordable Housing has continued its strong performance, securing major
refurbishment programmes for key new clients including Wirral Partnership Homes
and the London Borough of Croydon. The outlook for the affordable housing market
remains positive.
Overall, our divisions are performing in line with expectations, trading
conditions are positive and we expect the Group to take a further step forward
in 2005.
As previously announced John Bishop retires from the Board following the Annual
General Meeting. Whilst John will be remaining with us on a consultancy basis
for a time, I would like to thank him for his significant contribution to the
Group's development over the last 12 years and wish him every success for the
future.'
