Major Contract Wins for Morgan Est
Morgan Est, the Infrastructure Services division of Morgan Sindall, is pleased
to announce recent successes in the water sector, for Severn Trent Water ('
Severn Trent') as part of its Asset Management Programme 4 ('AMP4'), and the gas
sector for National Grid Transco ('NGT'). The total potential value to the
Group of these contracts is approx. £340 million.
Morgan Est has been selected by Severn Trent as one of its preferred suppliers
to carry out a number of projects in its Southern Area, consisting of South
Warwickshire, Birmingham, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. The work, which
is expected to start in April 2005 and will last for five years, will involve
non-infrastructure, process related civil engineering and mechanical &
electrical installation projects, including both asset renewal and new
construction and is valued at between £15 and £20 million per year.
NGT has awarded a Professional Services Contract for its Birmingham alliance
project to the Morgan Est Gas Alliance ('MEGA') which consists of Morgan Est,
Parsons Brinckerhoff, Glendee and Utilise. MEGA is one of four consortia
bidding for part of NGT's £1.8 billion programme of gas replacement work - the
largest gas renewal scheme in UK history.
The award of a Professional Services Contract involves preparatory work ahead
of the award of Alliance Agreements, each worth £30-40 million annually over
eight years. The full award will be dependent on agreeing terms & conditions
including first year target costs. Migration to Alliance Agreements is expected
to take place by 31 December 2004, with physical work commencing on 1st April
2005.
Paul Smith, Group Chief Executive, commented:
'We are very pleased at the continued excellent progress being made by our
Infrastructure Services business in developing its activities in the water and
gas sectors.'
