MORGAN ASHURST SECURES £44M SCHEME TO BUILD DEVON COLLEGE
Morgan Sindall plc, the construction and regeneration group, announces today that Morgan Ashurst, its construction division has won a £44 million contract to build a new college in Bideford, Devon.
Working for property consultants NPS on behalf of Devon County Council, Morgan Ashurst will replace the existing Bideford College with a brand new facility to house 1,800 students.
Paul Smith, Chief Executive of Morgan Sindall plc, said:
'This project further reinforces our leading position in the education market where we are already working on projects which include Bracknell and Wokingham College (£25 million), the East Dunbartonshire schools PPP scheme, the redevelopment framework at the University of Reading, and schools frameworks for Liverpool and South Lanarkshire Primary Schools.'
Devon County Council won the funding for the new school under the government's £2 billion Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme, which will rebuild or renew nearly every secondary school in England.
Work on site will start this month and the new school will be completed by August 2011.
