Morgan Sindall awarded £62.5 million contract
to build new A1073 in East of England
Morgan Sindall's infrastructure services business, Morgan Est, has been awarded
a £62.5 million contract from Lincolnshire County Council to deliver the new
A1073 Spalding to Eye Improvement Scheme in the East of England.
The new route, which will join the A16 south of Spalding and the A47 at Eye,
will provide an important strategic link to the East of England. Work will
commence in April and complete in 2010.
The project will include a 22km stretch of single carriageway, a 70 metre span,
bow-stringed arch bridge over the historical Roman watercourse at Car Dyke and a
dual carriageway link to the A15 at the southern end of the project.
The project is being let as an Early Contractor Involvement Scheme under the
Lincolnshire Major Projects Framework agreement with Morgan Est.
Paul Smith, Chief Executive of Morgan Sindall plc, said:
'Morgan Est has demonstrated impressive performance over the past year, and
today's announcement shows continued momentum in the business. This latest
contract win follows the recent award of a £445 million motorway project in
Scotland, as part of an Interlink joint venture.'
