MCES Awarded £178m Contract for Channel Tunnel Rail Link
Eurolink, the joint venture of Miller Civil Engineering Services Ltd (the
infrastructure division of Morgan Sindall Plc) and Vinci Construction Grands
Projets, has been awarded the contract for the construction of nearly 13 km of
the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) by Union Railways (North) between the
London tunnel portal at Dagenham to the Thames Tunnel portal at Thurrock.
CTRL Contract 310, worth £178 million, includes all civil works for the line
including 3 major viaducts, 11 bridges, 3 major highway diversions, utility
equipment diversions and about 10 km of piled slab and elevated piles slab to
support the line. This will carry the line across the Inner Thames Marshes and
through the Ford Motor Company works at Dagenham.
Pre-construction works will start immediately and on site construction work
will commence in March 2002 with the C310 works to complete by December 2004.
