Mothercare plc announces that it has been advised by Aegon Asset Management UK
that the Aegon UK plc Group of Companies have increased their notifiable
interest in the share capital of Mothercare plc to 5,284,713 ordinary shares or
7.3% of the issued share capital (previously 4,409,713 shares or 6.07% on a
share capital of 72,665,549).

The notifiable interest of Aegon Asset Management UK is held by Citibank
Nominees Limited.

The issued share capital of Mothercare plc comprises 72,665,876 ordinary shares.
