Euro Off Track offers global tote wagering with Breeders' Cup appointment
Euro Off Track, part of the betinternet.com plc group, has been appointed by
The Racing Network International (TRNi) as one of its strategic European
totalisator transmission hubs. As a TRNi hub, Euro Off Track will place tote
pools directly into the totalisator systems at the thoroughbred tracks
broadcast by TRNi. Commencement of this service will begin on Friday October
the 26th, with advance wagering on Saturday's Breeders' Cup being held this
year at Belmont in New York. Last year over 108 million dollars was wagered on
the eight race tote pools.
The Euro Off Track hub is based in the Isle of Man and was formally opened on
October 11, 2001 in the presence of Isle of Man Government Ministers. It is
the largest pari-mutuel 'Super Hub' built to date by AmTote International, one
of the top three tote manufacturers in the US. The hub can support
multi-community, multi-currency and process 28 million transactions per hour.
Vincent Caldwell, betinternet's Chairman & Managing Director said, 'We are
delighted to have been appointed by TRNi to act as one of its European hubs
for US thoroughbred racing. This is another important step in betinternet's
plan to offer a truly global tote wagering platform.'
Euro Off Track has already been appointed as the exclusive International Hub
for the American Greyhound Broadcast Association that includes premiere US
greyhound tracks Derby Lane, Hollywood, Flagler, Jacksonville and Palm Beach.
Euro Off Track is the exclusive off-track tote hub for Irish Greyhound Board
tracks, Shelbourne Park and Harolds Cross in Dublin. Miami Jai Alai has also
recently signed with Euro Off Track to accept tote wagers at its Miami,
Florida fronton.
Testing is underway to deliver a full suite of tote based sports wagers in the
near future, Vincent Caldwell said, 'Pari-mutuel wagering offers the punter
the opportunity of lottery style bets with enormous jackpots. There is no
doubt that the future of sports wagering in a global environment is co-mingled
pari-mutuel.'
Besides offering wagering direct through individual customer accounts at
euroofftrack.com and betinternet.com, Euro Off Track will provide other
bookmakers and licensees tote gateway access, enabling them to participate
direct into host tracks, fronton and sports pools and hence, a risk free
revenue stream. Again Vincent Caldwell said, 'Bookmakers will have secure
access to these exciting products while maintaining their own customer
confidentiality.'
