LONG TERM INCENTIVE PLAN AWARD

The Company announces the grant on 30 October 2000, by the Remuneration
Committee, of an award of 18,000 ordinary shares of 25p each in the Company to
Mr D J Cowen, an executive director of the Company.

In accordance with institutional guidelines on long term remuneration for senior
executives, awards to participants in the Plan are dependent on sustained
performance by participants and on the underlying financial performance of the
Company in the three years commencing 1 January 2000.
