Change in directorate responsibility
Majestic Wine, the UK's largest wine specialist, today announces that Justin Apthorp will retire from his executive role as Buying Director effective from today, 16 November 2015, but will remain on the Board as a Non-executive Director.
Justin was a member of the original management team that acquired Wizard Wines from Iceland in 1989 and has held various buying roles within the group since that date. He has been a valued member of the Board since 2006 and we are pleased that he has agreed to continue to serve in a non-executive role.
Richard Weaver, currently Merchandising Director at Majestic Wine will be appointed to the management role of Director of Merchandising and Buying from today. Richard has worked at Majestic Wine for the past 15 years and has held various roles in this time including Ecommerce Director and Ecommerce Manager.
Commenting on the changes Phil Wrigley, Majestic's Chairman said:
"During his time as Buying Director Justin has worked tirelessly to deliver wines of superior quality and value to our customers year after year. Despite the Majestic business undergoing a period of exciting change across all functions following the acquisition of Naked Wines we intend to continue that legacy and I am pleased that Justin has agreed to continue to provide us with his insight and experience as a Non-executive Director. I'd like to thank Justin for his significant contribution to the business and look forward to that continuing in his role on our Board."
