 Northumbrian Water Admission to the Official List and to trading on the London
                 Stock Exchange's market for listed securities


Northumbrian Water Group plc (the "Company") has published its listing
particulars ahead of its proposed admission to the Official List and to trading
on the London Stock Exchange. The Company expects to start trading on the main
market at 8.00am on Tuesday 23rd September 2003.

This move to the Official List completes the process announced at the time of
the Company's listing on AIM on 23rd May 2003 and reiterated in a regulatory
statement on 27th August 2003. This listing will not raise new money for the
Company.

The move to the Official List does not affect the holdings of existing
shareholders of the Company. The Company's RIC code will continue to be NWG
(NWG.L for Reuters and NWG LN for Bloomberg). On admission there will remain
518,623,845 ordinary shares in issue.

John Cuthbert, the Company's managing director said: "Today is a significant day
in our corporate history as we move to the main market of the London Stock
Exchange. When we floated on AIM in May we indicated that this move to the
Official List would happen as soon as reasonably practicable and I am pleased
that we have been able to complete the process so swiftly. We look forward to
life on the Official List and continuing to deliver value for both our customers
and shareholders."
