THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND CORPORATE BANKING
AND FINANCIAL MARKETS BRIEFING

As  part of an ongoing programme announced in April 2000, investors will today
be  given  a briefing on The Royal Bank of Scotland Group's Corporate  Banking
and  Financial Markets businesses.   Today's presentation follows on from  the
successful briefing on 19 October on the Group's retail banking businesses.

Fred  Goodwin,  Group Chief Executive, said 'Good progress is  being  made  on
integrating  the two banks and we remain on target to deliver on the  promises
made to the market.'

The  briefing  will take place today at Chartered Accountants  Hall,  Moorgate
Place, London at 10.30 am.
