         Northumbrian Water Group plc ("Northumbrian Water" or "Company")

                      Change of financial year end
                                   and
     Proposed application for admission to the Official List of the UK Listing
              Authority and to trading on the London Stock Exchange


Northumbrian Water today announces that in line with the other companies in the
utilities sector it has changed its year end from 31 May to 31 March.


It is the Company's intention to announce interim results for the period from 12
May 2003, the date of incorporation of the Company, to 30 September 2003 in mid
November when an interim dividend for this period will also be announced.


The Company also announces that it is applying for admission to the Official
List of the UK Listing Authority and to trading on the London Stock Exchange's
market for listed securities and anticipates that this will occur by the end of
September 2003.
