THE ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND GROUP plc COMPLETES
SALE OF RBS TRUST BANK TO THE BANK OF NEW YORK
The Royal Bank of Scotland plc ('the Bank') has completed the sale of its main
Investor Services business, RBS Trust Bank Ltd., to The Bank of New York
('BNY'). In a related transaction the Bank's subsidiary, The Royal Bank of
Scotland International (Holdings) Ltd., has completed the sale of 30% of its
Investor Services business, RBSI Security Services (Holdings) Ltd to BNY.
Johnny Cameron, Managing Director Corporate & Institutional Banking at The
Royal Bank of Scotland, said: 'We are confident Trust Bank will provide the
highest quality of service to its customers under the ownership of a parent
which is a world leader in this field.'
An announcement that agreement in principle had been reached for these
transactions was made on 23 March 1999 and definitive contracts were entered
into on 29 July 1999.
