.secure passes ICANN evaluation
NCC Group plc (LSE: NCC or "the Group"), the international, independent provider of Escrow and Assurance, announces that subsidiary Artemis Internet Inc's ('Artemis') .secure bid has passed ICANN's evaluation process.
This is a key milestone towards gaining ownership of the .secure generic top level domain (gTLD), following ICANN's decision to extend gTLDs to increase competition and choice in the domain name space. The evaluation included background screening, technical and financial capability testing and a review of Artemis's registry services.
The next step in the process will be for Artemis to enter the contention resolution stage with other applicants for the .secure gTLD.
NCC Group established Artemis in 2012 to develop the critical infrastructure needed to deliver the project and subsequently run the .secure gTLD. In order to maintain a .secure domain, registrants must robustly verify their identity, comply with a strict and specific code of security conduct, and undergo regular compliance scanning by Artemis.
