NMT ANNOUNCES CONTRACT WIN WITH THE VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATIONS OF AMERICA
New Medical Technology Group PLC, the safety syringe manufacturer, today
announces the award of a national purchasing agreement with the Visiting Nurse
Associations of America (VNAA) for its safety syringe.
VNAA, headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, is the national membership
organisation for more than 400 local Visiting Nurse Associations (VNAs) in
various localities of the United States. Local VNA organisations are all
non-profit, community-based providers of vital, high quality healthcare in home
and other non-institutional settings. VNA's founded the concept of homecare over
one hundred years ago and continue to provide charitable care to their
communities. It is estimated that VNAA affiliates provide over 2.5 million flu
vaccinations alone, as well as other medication injections each year.
Commenting on the new agreement, Jean Ellis, VNAA Director of Member Services
and Business Development, said: 'VNAA is pleased to be able to offer our members
access to safety syringes from New Medical Technology. NMT's safety syringes
have been highly recommended by several of our VNA members who experienced a
significant decrease in their needlestick incidents through the use of NMT
products. VNAA's goal is to identify products that enhance the quality of care
delivered, in the most cost-effective manner for our member VNA's. This
agreement with NMT will accomplish both.'
On behalf of NMT, Inc., Steve Czick, President, added: 'We are very pleased to
have the VNAA as our partner in this safety syringe agreement. Each year, it is
estimated that more than 600,000 inadvertent needlesticks occur which can lead
to life-threatening infections such as HIV and Hepatitis C viruses. By means of
this agreement, the VNAA will allow its VNA members to protect themselves and
their patients from these blood-borne pathogens, due to our patented automatic
needle retraction technology.'
NMT Group PLC, based in Livingston, Scotland, develops, manufactures and
distributes safety hollow bore needle devices.
