NMT signs joint venture with Eastern Medikit to manufacture IV catheter
Livingston, Scotland - NMT Group PLC ('NMT'), the manufacturer of retractable
devices to prevent needlestick injury, today announces that it has signed a
three-year manufacturing agreement with Eastern Medikit Limited of Gurgaon,
India.
Eastern Medikit will manufacture and supply a complete range of NMT's patented
safety I.V. catheter products. This catheter will be launched globally during
the final quarter of 2001.
Eastern Medikit, established in 1988, employs approximately 1500 people in a
totally integrated manufacturing operation, which includes tool design and
manufacture, moulding of components and component assembly. Its product range
comprises principally catheters, in addition to I.V. infusion sets, blood
collection bags & tubing, endo-tracheal equipment and syringes. Eastern
Medikit is the largest manufacturer of I.V. catheter products in India and,
with over 85% of its sales exported, complies with the stringent regulatory
and quality standards of a fully integrated medical device manufacturer.
Facilities have been audited by NMT and are of a first class standard.
