Next ESOP Trust

On 30 November 2000 the Next ESOP Trust disposed of 75,500 Ordinary Shares of
10p each in Next plc to satisfy share options exercised by employees of the
Company.

Executive Directors of Next plc who are participants in the Company share option
schemes are deemed to be discretionary beneficiaries of the Trust and are
consequently considered to be interested in all of the shares held by the Trust
which amount to 8,685,710.

Directors

On 30 November 2000 Andrew Varley, Director exercised options granted to him
under the Company Share Option Scheme to purchase 50,000 Next plc Ordinary
shares of 10p each at a price of 530p.  Mr Varley then sold his beneficial
interest in these shares as follows:
