Directors - Sale and Repurchase of Shares

The Company has been notified today that Mr David Jones disposed of 220,000
Ordinary Shares of 10p each in Next plc on 7 October 2003 at a price of £11.78.
On the same date his personal pension fund purchased 220,000 shares at a price
of £11.780625. There has been no net change in his beneficial interests in Next
plc shares from these transactions.
