As previously announced, after 10 years on the Board of Next plc Derek Netherton
intends to retire in 2008.  The search for a new non-executive Director who will
also sit on the Audit Committee has been completed and the Board has pleasure in
announcing the appointment of Steve Barber with effect from 1 June 2007.


Steve's career has included almost thirty years in the accountancy profession
with Price Waterhouse and Ernst & Young and he was also finance director of
Mirror Group.  Currently, Steve is the chief operating officer of Whitehead
Mann.


The Board confirms that no other disclosures need to be made under Listing Rule
9.6.13 in respect of this appointment.
