Next plc announces that the company has commenced an irrevocable,
non-discretionary programme to purchase shares on its own behalf, for
cancellation, during the close period commencing on 3rd February 2003 within
certain pre-set parameters, in accordance with Chapter 15 of the Listing Rules
and Next's general authority to repurchase shares.
