Appointment of Director


The Board of North Atlantic Smaller Companies Investment Trust is pleased to
announce the appointment of Mr Philip Swinstead OBE, aged 64, as a director of
the Company with effect from today's date.

Mr Swinstead is a director and founder of Parity plc, and was previously a
founder director of two other listed European Systems Integration companies -
GFI Informatique SA and SD-Scicon plc.

He was a director of a number of UK public investment trusts from 1982 to 1996,
and is a director of a number of private companies in Europe including in the UK
Cross Border Publishing Limited, and family businesses - Antics Group Limited
and Swinstead Shipping Limited.

The Board can also confirm that there is no relevant information required to be
disclosed pursuant to the Listing Rule 9.6.13R.
