CANAL+ Chooses ORAD's Sports Graphics to Cover the French Premier League for the
next three years.
Orad Hi-Tec Systems (Symbol: OHT) announced today that CANAL+, one of Europe's
largest broadcasters, has placed a substantial order. CANAL+ will purchase
multiple TrackVision, CyberSport and CyberGraphics systems together with a three
years' maintenance agreement, to enhance CANAL+'s coverage of the French Premier
League.
Under the agreement, Orad will provide CANAL+ with a total On Air Graphic
graphics solution including on screen graphics, virtual offside lines and sport
enhancement features. The systems will be used for the next three forthcoming
seasons, covering 380 games per year, transmitted live on the CANAL+ Premium,
CANAL+ Sport and Kiosque as well as CANAL+ satellite Pay Per View channels.
Canal+ will produce part of the main games using Orad's high definition
solutions.
At the heart of the Orad solution to CANAL+ is its newly released TrackVision
system. TrackVision is a proprietary system (for which a patent is pending)
which allows offside lines during football matches to be generated instantly,
based on a real time analysis of the video signal itself. No mechanical devices
need to be mounted to the cameras. Using Orad's superior tracking technology,
offside lines can be generated even in areas where the pitch lines are not
visible.
In addition, CANAL+ will utilize Orad's CyberSport system to enhance the match
presentation further, using features such as virtual screens and distance
measurements. The CyberGraphics platform will also be used for standard on
screen graphics with an interface to the League's statistical system. The
system CANAL+will deploy is based on Orad's DVG and HDVG rendering platforms.
CANAL+ sports production department's TV Director said: 'Over the past few
months we conducted a thorough analysis of the various alternatives and the Orad
solution stands out as superior both in its ease of operation and its accuracy,
as well as presenting inherent ability to evolve towards our future
requirements. We hope that the partnership with Orad will expand into other
areas of sports.'
'We are delighted that CANAL+ is adopting our sports solution' says Avi Sharir
President and CEO of Orad. 'Orad has always been at the forefront of novel
sports graphics solutions. We look forward to continue working with CANAL+ to
develop new and exciting products for sports coverage. With this agreement, the
French football league joins the Italian, Brazilian, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish,
English, Belgium, Turkish and many other leagues which have implemented Orad's
sports solution for their football games'.
