                       Preliminary results - Presentation
                           Monday 23rd February 2004

Old Mutual plc ('Old Mutual') will, at 9:00am UK (11:00am South Africa) on
Monday 23 February 2004, be hosting a presentation in London and in Johannesburg
for investors and analysts on its preliminary results for the year ended 31
December 2003.

Jim Sutcliffe, Chief Executive, will host the event from South Africa and Julian
Roberts, Group Finance Director will host the presentation from the UK.  There
will be a satellite link between the venues in the UK and South Africa. The
addresses for the presentations are Old Mutual Place, 2 Lambeth Hill, London EC4
in the UK and in the Nedcor Auditorium, 135 Rivonia Road, Sandton, Johannesburg
in South Africa.

Presentation slides, and a live Webcast of the presentation will be available on
the company's website www.oldmutual.com to those who have pre-registered to
receive it.  An archive of the Webcast will also be available later in the day.
In addition there will be an audio dial-in facility on the day, which will also
be accessible for the remainder of the week.  The dial in details are now
