                  Preliminary results - Presentation Cape Town

Old Mutual plc ('Old Mutual') will today be hosting a presentation in Cape Town
for investors and analysts on its preliminary results for the year ended 31
December 2001.  This follows presentations in London and Johannesburg yesterday.

In addition to the preliminary results for Old Mutual the company will also make
available copies of the statutory accounts of Old Mutual Life Assurance Company
of South Africa prepared for statutory solvency reporting. Copies are available
from the Company's brokers, Merrill Lynch (Pty) Ltd, or from investor relations
c/o corporate finance department, Mutual Park Jan Smuts Drive, Pinelands, Cape
Town or alternatively from the company's website.

The presentation will take place in the Old Mutual's offices at Mutual Park,
Pinelands, Cape Town at 11:30 am. The presentation slides will also be available
on the company's website www.oldmutual.com after the presentation concludes.
