Old Mutual plc has been informed, by a letter dated 16 August 2001 which was
received yesterday, that Barclays PLC has a notifiable interest, through its
subsidiary, Barclays Bank PLC, for the purposes of Part VI of the UK Companies
Act 1985, in shares representing 4.06% of the current issued ordinary share
capital of Old Mutual plc.
