Old Mutual plc has been informed, by a letter dated 19 September 2001 which
was received today, that Barclays PLC, through its subsidiary Barclays Bank
PLC, no longer has a notifiable interest, for the purposes of Part VI of the
UK Companies Act 1985, in the ordinary share capital of Old Mutual plc.
