Old Mutual plc (the 'Company') announces that it today received a notice dated
12 September 2006 informing the Company that Barclays PLC, through the legal
entities listed below, had at 11 September 2006 a notifiable interest, for the
purposes of Part VI of the UK Companies Act 1985, in 5.01% of the Company's
ordinary share capital, represented by an aggregate holding of 274,718,421
shares.
