Old Mutual plc (the 'Company') announces that it has today received a notice
dated 15 September 2006 informing the Company that Barclays PLC, through the
legal entities listed below, had at 14 September 2006 a notifiable interest, for
the purposes of Part VI of the UK Companies Act 1985, in 4.92% of the Company's
ordinary share capital, represented by an aggregate holding of 269,861,768
shares.
