Old Mutual plc (the 'Company') announces that it has today received notification
from Barclays PLC dated 30 May 2006 informing the Company that the notifiable
interest of Barclays PLC in the Company's ordinary share capital, for the
purposes of Part VI of the UK Companies Act 1985, has reduced from 5.00% to
4.87% represented by an aggregate holding of 267,304,240 shares held through the
