        Announcement of AGM Trading Update and Analysts Conference Call



Tomorrow, Friday 17th May 2002, Old Mutual plc ('the Company') will be providing
an update on current trading in respect of the Group's wholly-owned subsidiaries
for the Annual General Meeting of the Company. Julian Roberts, Group Finance
Director, will be giving a brief overview of the trading update and taking
questions during a teleconference briefing for analysts at 10.00am (UK) 11.00am
(SA).
