Transaction in Own Shares

Old Mutual plc ('the Company') announces that on 13 May 2008 it purchased through Merrill Lynch South Africa (Pty) Limited a total of 572,563 of the Company's ordinary shares of 10p each.  

All of these shares were acquired on the JSE Limited at an average price of ZAR 17.7354 per share.

The purchased shares will be held in treasury. The Company's current issued share capital is now 5,277,098,447 ordinary shares of 10p each (excluding the 236,587,902 shares that have so far been repurchased into treasury).
